TroubleshootingFix: Voice Interruption Triggering on Background Noise

Fix: Voice Interruption Triggering on Background Noise

Symptom: TTS stops unexpectedly. The AI gets interrupted by background noise, fan noise, or other people talking nearby.

Common Causes

⚠ Mic threshold too low

Pro users: increase micThreshold in config. Default 0.008. Try 0.02 for noisy environments. Higher = louder speech needed to trigger.

⚠ Close to speakers

If your mic picks up TTS audio from speakers, the plugin may detect its own output. Use headphones to prevent feedback loops.

⚠ Fan or ambient noise

Move the mic away from fans or air conditioning. A directional headset mic helps reject ambient noise.

⚠ Open office environment

Use /ptt for deliberate recording instead of voice interruption. /ptt only listens when you activate it.

⚠ Mic gain too high

Lower your microphone input volume in system audio settings. This reduces the noise floor.

Fallback

Disable voice interruption by using /ptt exclusively. The walkie-talkie toggle gives you explicit control over when the mic is active.
